OMODA timeline
1997
Chery was founded on the outskirts of Wuhu, China. Within months, our first engine laboratory was built.
1999
First production engine completed. Soon after, our first vehicle left the factory. We started as a domestic carmaker, but success gave us the confidence to aim higher.
2001
We began to export vehicles developed in our dedicated global R&D centre. Achieving our goal of building excellent quality vehicles for customers worldwide.
2007
We celebrated the sale of our one millionth vehicle.
2015
Just eight years later, that figure had increased to over five million vehicles.
2023
Omoda was founded by Chery, as a premium brand for the international market.
2024
Including Omoda, Chery’s export brands reached 2.6 million annual sales.
2025
We now have more than 15 million customers worldwide, employ over 80,000 people, and operate in more than 80 international markets.
